Illness and Medication
If your child is unwell or not feeling themselves, it is much better for them to be at home. This will also protect other families and staff.
Ring or email the preschool to let us know the reason for any absence.
It is important to notify us of any infectious illnesses so other families may be alerted.
If in doubt, please contact preschool for advice.
Your child must STAY AT HOME:
If they are unwell and/or have a high temperature;
If they have symptoms of a respiratory infection (including Covid-19) and a high temperature or feel unwell;
If they have tested positive for Covid-19, with or without symptoms, remain at home for a minimum of three full days and only return if they are well an do not have a temperature.
For the first 48 hours after starting antibiotics - their return must be agreed with the Preschool Manager;
Until 48 hours after the last bout of sickness or diarrhoea.
Please keep your child at home if there is a positive case of COVID-19 in your household as this will help to prevent Covid-19 spreading through the preschool.
Medication
Remember to tell us if your child has any medication at home before coming to preschool, including antibiotics, paracetamol or ibuprofen.
You must inform us if your child has a medical condition, an allergy or intolerance or has any kind of prescribed medication.
You will need to complete forms giving full details of their condition.
Ask your doctor to prescribe an extra set of medication to be kept at Preschool, including a spacer if used with an inhaler.
Staff are required to undertake training to use some kinds of life-saving medication so please inform us in plenty of time to enable this to be arranged before your child starts.
For your child’s safety and for insurance reasons, your child may not be able to start until the training has been completed.
A medication record will be completed if your child requires their medication while at pre-school. You will be asked to countersign the form so you know exactly what they have had and when.
