New food labelling regulations have come into place and we are required to inform you if any of the 14 allergens listed below are contained in food and/or drinks supplied by the pre-school. This is currently being done by highlighting (in bold print) the allergens contained in the snack on the poster in the window by the entrance door.  For example,

SNACK: Milk or water, choice of fruit

Please continue to let us know if your child has any food allergies or intolerances.

The 14 allergens that we are required to inform you of are listed below:

·         Cereals containing gluten such as wheat, rye, barley, oats, spelt or khorasan

·         Crustaceans for example prawns, crabs, lobster, crayfish

·         Eggs

·         Fish

·         Peanuts

·         Soybeans

·         Milk (including lactose)

·         Nuts such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, pecan nuts, Brazil nuts, pistachio nuts, macadamia (or Queensland) nuts

·         Celery (including celeriac)

·         Mustard

·         Sesame seeds

·         Sulphur dioxide (>10mg/kg or 10mg/L)

·         Lupin

·         Mollusc for example clams, mussels, whelks, oysters, snails and squid

Please let us know how this works for you as parents.  Any suggestions would be very welcome.

On the snack page is a list of regular snacks provided by the pre-school.  Details of the week’s snack are also posted on the noticeboard and on the weekly poster in the window by the entrance door. If it is a child's birthday, parents may ask to bring in some cakes/biscuits to share. Details of what this will be and when, along with allergens will be posted on the noticeboard outside of pre-school prior to the event, please inform a member of staff if you wish your child to not participate in this. Children who are known to have allergies will automatically not be offered anything they shouldn't eat.

Details of Bake & Share Lunches will be included in the consent letter for the lunch.  The same applies to the Christmas Party.

Please remember to let us know if your child has any food allergies or intolerances or develops any at a later date.
